MIKE OLDFIELD - TUBULAR BELLS

To celebrate the 50th anniversary since its release, the iconic composition by Mike Oldfield – Tubular Bells – will be performed under the baton of Robin Smith. The concert show Tubular Bells 50th Anniversary will also feature other compositions by Mike Oldfield, such as Moonlight Shadow, Summit Day, Family Man, and Ommadawn.

Tubular Bells, the best-selling instrumental album of all time, was originally released as the debut of the up-and-coming Mike Oldfield on May 25, 1973. Composed two years earlier, Oldfield personally recorded all the instruments for the album. The global popularity of Tubular Bells was further boosted by its use in the film The Exorcist, where the first part of the album was featured. In the UK alone, the album sold almost 3 million copies.

Conductor and composer Robin Smith, leading the concert show Tubular Bells 50th Anniversary, is thrilled to conduct a work he has loved since 1973 when he first heard it. He collaborated with Mike Oldfield on Tubular Bells 2 and 3, including live performances at Edinburgh Castle, Horseguards Parade in London, The Millennium Bell in Berlin, and the 2012 Olympics in London.
